Faxitron X-ray Corp. is the market leader within the Microfocus X-ray cabinet segment for imaging organic objects.
The two biggest indications are specimen X-rays of breast biopsies and surgical breast specimens and X-rays of laboratory animals (especially mice and rats)
Faxitron's unique spatial resolution and its ability to show malign microcalcifications that are invisible on specimen X-rays taken on a mammography stand are well documented. Numerous mammography departments can testify that detection of multifocal diseases where only the target tumour can be seen is common with specimen X-rays taken on a mammography stand. This is thanks to the low kV setting, which is better at displaying the slight contrasts in low-contrast objects.
Faxitron's specimen X-ray cabinets are available in a number of different versions for use with film/image plates as well as with direct digital cameras in various formats with DICOM Modality Worklist, C-STORE, C-PRINT.
The Faxitron DX50 is a desktop model intended for use in the operating theatre for specimen X-rays. The images are sent over the network via DICOM to the mammography department for scrutiny which saves operating time
For better utilisation of resources, this can be supplied with a trolley for mobile use.
The Faxitron MX20 is a larger desktop model with the capability for 5x geometric magnification without optical blurring. This system is a best-seller for specimen X-rays and laboratory animals in the Nordic region.
Both systems have excellent radiation shielding and double interlocks so no external radiation shielding is required.
